At its core, fashion is business.
no matter how many introspective lines you try to draw between designers collections and how they make you feel the end result always will be the money.
observe the "creativity" "beauty" "exceptional concepts" these are all functions to bring one result. an upgrade in ones finances.
perhaps they enjoy it, they do it for the passion. but passion can not fuel mega brand success. lucrative marketing and violation of resources is the only way.
So what is fashion? where do you draw the line between a brand that is really making something impressive and a brand run by discrete shareholders?
I think only through extremely diligent research would one find any answers. They will, im sure, point back at your gut feeling, something is quite wrong in this industry and I dont know how to feel about it.
